Heating is the goal, but cooling is the challenge. This panel explores the three main heat delivery methods—air, immersion, and hydro—breaking down their strengths, limitations, and trade-offs. Air is simple and direct, immersion captures nearly all heat, and hydro offers efficient heat transfer over distance. But which system is best for which application? And how do you choose the right approach for hashrate heating?
Cody Harris is a freedom maximalist living in Wyoming. Cody and his wife Beth run Citadel Construction, a small construction company specializing in creative remodels and heating homes with bitcoin miners. When he's not busy swinging a hammer or trying to convince fellow freedom lovers to move to Wyoming, Cody can be found rock climbing or trailrunning.
Ryan Ramminger is a Bitcoin mining entrepreneur and hardware innovator dedicated to advancing next-generation cooling solutions for ASIC miners. With a strong background in thermal engineering and hardware development, Ryan is pioneering direct-to-chip liquid cooling technology, pushing the boundaries of efficiency and heat reuse in Bitcoin mining. He actively shares insights on ASIC optimization, thermal management, and mining infrastructure, working to make Bitcoin mining more sustainable and scalable.
Toine is the founder of 256 Heat, a company dedicated to air-based Bitcoin heating systems. With a background in 3D design, macroeconomics, and finance, he first discovered Bitcoin in 2013, invested in 2015, and later became deeply involved in mining. Recognizing the potential of proof-of-work and digital scarcity, Toine began mining in 2022 and focused on modifying mining hardware to capture and utilize its waste heat. In 2022, he designed and built a dedicated Bitcoin mining shed, allowing him to experiment with firmware, software, and hardware optimizations. This hands-on experience led to the creation of 256 Heat in 2024, where he now develops practical, pleb-focused heat reuse solutions that integrate Bitcoin mining into everyday heating applications.
Dane S. is dedicated to making home Bitcoin mining both practical and profitable while maintaining a strong focus on usability. With a commitment to Bitcoin’s decentralization, he is working to distribute hash power globally by integrating mining systems into everyday applications. Through the use of immersion cooling, he maximizes efficiency and heat recovery, repurposing excess heat for domestic hot water, radiant floor heating, jacuzzis, and pools. By leveraging this innovative approach, Dane aims to revolutionize home mining and bring Bitcoin back to its decentralized roots.
